NIKKI SIXX Performs With CHEVY METAL In Malibu (Video)
June 30, 2013MÖTLEY CRÜE and SIXX: A.M. bassist Nikki Sixx joined CHEVY METAL — the "dirt rock" cover band featuring FOO FIGHTERS drummer Taylor Hawkins and singer-bassist Wiley Hodgden (bass) — on stage on June 22 at The Malibu Inn in Malibu, California to perform the CRÜE classics "Looks That Kill" and "Live Wire". Also making an appearance with the group was guitarist Mick Murphy of MY RUIN. Video footage of the performance can be seen below.
CHEVY METAL performs '70s and 80s rock covers, including both favorites and deep tracks by groups such as AEROSMITH, VAN HALEN, BLACK SABBATH, THE ROLLING STONES and THE KNACK.
"It's just fun," Hawkins told Billboard.com. "You get to play different feels and things. And all those are bands that influenced me to being with, but to really dig into those arrangements musically is a blast. We don't do them not for note; we make them our own style."
He added: "We've done remarkable things as this fun little cover band. But it was never the intention to do anything like that. It's just fun."
